Benzene Introduction: A colorless, flammable, liquid aromatic hydrocarbon, C6H6, derived from petroleum and used in or to manufacture a wide variety of chemical products. Benzene is a carcinogen. It is a component of gasoline and of napalm. By far the largest use of benzene is an intermediate to make other chemicals.
